Safety guidelines
Accompany works when everyone can trust the people they meet. These guidelines apply to every activity, every chat and every profile.
Before you meet
- Check the other person's profile: their Verified badge, rating, reliability and recent reviews.
- Keep chatting inside Accompany. You never need to share your number, home address or social media.
- Check the place on the map before you go.
- Add an emergency contact in your profile. We only text them when you use SOS.
- Tell a friend where you are going and when you expect to be back.
- If a plan doesn't feel right, cancel it. Cancelling a request before you are accepted leaves no record.
When you meet
- Meet at the place pinned in the plan. If anyone pressures you to go somewhere else, say no, and use SOS or report them.
- Get there and back on your own.
- Never share money, OTPs, bank details or passwords, whatever the reason.
- If you feel unsafe, use SOS in the chat. You can call 112, send your emergency contact a live location link, or leave the activity safely. Leaving this way never lowers your rating.
What is not allowed
- Anyone under 18. Accompany is for adults only.
- Fake profiles, someone else's photos, or pretending to be someone else.
- Harassment, threats, hate, or sexual messages or behaviour.
- Asking for money, selling things, or promoting a business.
- Pressuring anyone to drink, to go somewhere else, or to stay longer than they want.
Reporting and blocking
You can report or block anyone from their profile, an activity or a chat. A report goes to our team, and the person is never told who reported them. You can attach recent chat messages; we keep them for 30 days for the review, then delete them.
Blocking works both ways: neither of you sees the other or can message. The other person is not told.
Reports count against an account for life. After repeated reports, the person has to verify again, and accounts can be closed permanently. A closed account's mobile number and Google account cannot be used to sign up again.
Verification
To post or join plans, everyone records a 5-second video saying a code shown on screen. A person on our team checks it against the profile photo. Only our team sees the video, and it is deleted within 15 days of the decision. Changing your profile photo pauses the Verified badge until a new video is approved.
Reliability
Plans depend on people turning up. Cancelling close to the start, or leaving early without a safety reason, is recorded and shows on your profile. Leaving through SOS never counts against you.
Your chats and data
Each activity's group chat is deleted for everyone when the activity ends. Your number is never shown to other people. Your date of birth is used to check you are 18 or over and is never shown; others see your age.
